What is the selection process for SSC CGL 2019?
The selection process for SSC CGL 2019-20 includes 4 stages:Tier | Type | Mode |

- Based on the marks scored in Tier-I i.e. Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations.
- Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations will be conducted for all the candidates qualified in Tier-I. In Tier-II, all the candidates will be required to appear in Paper-I and Paper-II. However, only specific candidates shortlisted for the posts of JSO/ Statistical Investigator and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to appear in Paper-III and Paper-IV respectively.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern Tier 1 2019
SSC will hold a
computer-based examination with 100 multiple-choice questions. There are
4 sections in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CGL 2018, with 100 questions that
account for a total of 200 marks. The subject-wise details are given
below:
What is the time duration for each paper?
The candidates will be provided 2 hours for each paper.
The SSC CGL Tier 3 will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode.

- There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks in all sections in Tier 1.
- The overall duration of the Tier 1 exam is 60 minutes.
- The duration of the exam is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2019
SSC CGL Tier 2 will comprise subjects
namely Quantitative Ability, English Language, Statistics, and General
Studies (Finance) each consisting of 200 marks. The total time duration
to attempt each section is of 2 hours.

Is there any negative marking?
In Tier 2, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III and Paper-IV.

Are Paper III and IV compulsory?
In Tier-II, Paper-I and Paper-II are compulsory for all the posts. Paper III is only for candidates who opted for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Paper-IV will be for candidates who opted for Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer

For physically handicapped students, the cumulative time to complete the Tier-II exam is increased to 2 hours 40 minutes.

Candidates qualified in the CGL Tier 2
exam will The SSC CGL Tier 3 exam consists of a written exam where
candidates will be required to appear for a descriptive test. The
details are as given below.

SSC CGL Tier 4/ Skill Test Exam Pattern
Tier-IV examination constitutes a couple of skill sets required for certain Government Posts all over the country.
CPT (Computer Proficiency Test):
The Commission will provide the Computer for the test. The Skill test
in Computer Proficiency is a qualifying test only. It will consist of
three Modules in the following manner:
- Word Processing Test: 2000 Key Depressions
- Test in spread Sheets on Microsoft Excel: 15 Minutes
- Test in PowerPoint (Microsoft PowerPoint): 15 Minutes
- After the test of Module-I is over, the candidate will have to write in his/her own handwriting one paragraph of about 50-60 words from the Data Entry passage given to him/her on a separate sheet, then only the candidate will be given the exercise sheet of Module-II.
- The candidate has to prepare a spreadsheet as per the given exercise in 15 minutes and then save it with the filename as prescribed in the exercise sheet. Printout of the saved files should be taken thereafter.
- After the test of Module II is over, the candidate will be given the exercise sheet of Module III (PowerPoint) which has to be completed in 15 minutes. The candidate has to prepare presentation slides as per the exercise is given and then save it as instructed above as well as print the same.

- Tier-I marks: 200 marks
- Tier-II: [Paper I (Quant) & Paper-II (English)], Paper-III (Statistics)
- Tier 2 Marks: 200 marks allotted to English Section for 200 Questions + 200 marks allotted to Quantitative Aptitude Section for 100 Questions: 400 Marks in Total (300 Questions)
- Tier 2 Marks for JSO Post: 400 Marks + 200 Marks For 100 Question (Paper III of Statistics): 600 Marks (400 Questions)
- Tier III: Interview for some particular posts for 100 Marks and Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test (Qualifying in nature)

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2016-17 [Changed Exam Pattern]
- For the first time, SSC CGL Exam was conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) i.e in online mode including both Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam.
- Negative marking was increased from 0.25 marks for each wrong answer to 0.50 marks in Tier-I Exam.
- Change in number of questions: Now Tier-1 contains 100 questions.
- Time Duration was reduced from 120 minutes to 75 Minutes.
- Tier-II: [Paper I (Quant)& Paper-II (English)], Paper-III (Statistics), Paper-IV (Economics): Paper IV was introduced for AAO Post)
- Introduction of Descriptive Exam Writing in Tier III 2016-17 in Pen Paper Mode
- Tier III Marks and Time Duration: 100 Marks and 60 Minutes
- Tier IV 2016-17: Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test (Qualifying in nature)

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2017-18 [Time Limit Reduced]
- SSC CGL 2017-18 Exam followed the same procedure as of SSC CGL 2016-17
- The only change was a reduction in the Time Duration of Tier 1 Exam: it was deducted from 75 Minutes to 60 Minutes.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2018-19 [Normalization]
- SSC CGL 2018-19 Exam followed the same pattern as of SSC CGL 2017-18
- The only change is the introduction of normalization.
- The exam date for Tier 2 & Tier 3 is 22.06.2020 to 25.06.2020.
- Candidates will have to prepare for both Tier 2 and Tier 3 exam simultaneously.
- However, the evaluation of the Tier 3 Descriptive exam will be done only if a candidate clears the combined cut off for Tier 1 and Tier 2.
