Postal Inspectors are recruited for taking responsibility of one or two postal divisions together in any district, by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) through Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination. The post is set up for taking all postal divisions across the country. The post is not quite so lucrative and does not involve exciting field works to be done with challenges.

The posting of postal inspectors is made according to the vacancies in any particular postal division. They are responsible for taking care of 60 to 70 post offices within their division/subdivision.
