SSC CGL Tier I examination is going to conduct all over the country in order to shortlist candidates for the next phase i.e. tier II of the examination. The post of Sub Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics comes under Group C non gazetted post under general central service of Government of India and the pay band attached to the post is Rs 5200-20200 with the grade pay calculated as Rs 2400. Though this is pre-revised formula for calculation of gross monthly salary of the post, by rough estimate, we can say that the gross salary for the post after pay revision is around Rs 37000 in any class X city whereas for the class Z cities as specified by the government, it should be around Rs 33000.
The in-hand salary is calculated after deductions such as professional tax, NPS contribution etc and it is a minimum of Rs 30000 for this post.

Job Profile of Sub Inspector in CBN

As sub inspector, you will be given in charge of a particular area or division as is deemed fit according to your area of posting by your superintending officer and if it is a high tension area, your allotted area will not be large. In your area, you are the boss and that is why, you are going to be held responsible in case something happens in the area for which you are in-charge. You are supposed to keep an eye on production of opium or other psychotropic substances and if it is happening, you should prevent them. You have the authority to seize the same and also take the concerned people into custody but in case of a very serious offence, you are supposed to bring your superior into picture and also report the same to him or her. You may also be asked to submit reports based on your area to your superior so that the whole situation may be studied and action may be taken, if required. This nature of the job makes it more attractive for youngsters joining the government. However, you need specific physical standards to be eligible for this post.
 
Career path of Sub Inspector in CBN
The candidates who join as sub inspector in the organization are likely to get the first promotion as inspectors after service of at least 5 years but that also depends on the total number of vacancies in that particular zone and seniority in that zone. If you are talented and have a good track record, the next step is being the superintendent which may take at least 5-7 years more and some extra-ordinary candidates end up as Assistant Narcotics Commissioner and head of a department at the fag end of their careers.
  This post is thrilling for youngsters joining the workforce of the government. You have go for raids and develop contacts among common people to gain news etc and that is why, people are attracted towards this job. However, you have to keep in mind that in this process, you will also make a number of dangerous enemies in your whole career. The work schedule is very hectic because of the fact that you do not have any fixed time for work and no fixed schedule for going to office and coming back. The initial years are very difficult because of this uncertainty surrounding the nature of the job. However, if you are willing to serve as a government employee and not a very big fan of desk job, this is the job for you.
