CAG Divisional accountant is a financial advisor to the government
engineers. You will be the sole authority to pass the bills of
divisions. Divisional accountant in CAG i.e. “An Autonomous institution
established under the constitution of India,” is a central government
employee who can work in state owned office and central government
offices.
Job Profile & responsibilities
Divisional accountant is the person, who do accountancy for various government departments and checks the expenses & all the transactions occurred on particular project. After your verification and approval, contractors will get the amount. It is the only job that truly offers you an officer profile because there is no sub-ordination with the UPSC officer as other departments do have. You do not have to take orders or guidelines from an IAS officer. It is an independent work profile where you have to take all major financial decisions alone.
Apart from the above fact, you will obviously get a separate cabin, peon and account assistants to get the work done. You will receive respect from the assistant engineers of PWD, Irrigation as you have much authority comparable to them. Working knowledge and man management is the key skill to excel and sustain in this job profile. Respect in the office depends upon your knowledge and expertise. Mostly experience holders choose this profile as they are well aware of the real situations arouse in the office.
The only cons associated with this job are that you have to do the same kind of work throughout the whole service, which may appear monotonous after certain period.
Salary and pay scale
As per the recent SSC CGL 2017 notification, this post is considered under the following pay scale.
Total pay = 9,300 + 4, 200 = Rs. 13, 500;

- Divisional Account Officer-Grade I (GP- Rs. 4,800 & Gazetted)
- Senior Divisional Accounts officer (GP- Rs. 5,400 & Gazetted)
- Book keeping and accountancy
- Public works accounts (practical)
- Public works accounts (Theory)
- General Hindi and English ( Essay, précis and letter writing)
- Essay in regional language
- Financial rules, service rules, treasury rules and fundamental rules
